Just A Thought

Excited About Starting New Things

I tend to get excited about new stuff, even new realities. Granted, they aren't all great, but there's something exciting about fresh starts.

A Year Later

Man, it's wild reading stuff that I wrote a year ago. It boggles the mind to consider how much changes in a year. The radio show is off and running ever since June 2013 and I've honestly been swamped to the point that I almost dont even know exactly what all I've been up to.

Patience and Meaning

Why the hell is it that so much of life makes me have to wait for...whatever?  Lately my big patience thing is all about this radio show that I'm supposed to start hosting (Road Signs on 106.5 fm or on 1065.com Sundays from 10pm-midnight).

More than Believe

So okay.  We all do this freaking great job of declring to the world what we believe and intend to believe for the rest of our lives.  That's all well and good as far as it goes, but that's the catch, see: what we believe is only a belief until it shows up in something real.

Otherwise

I couldn't help but get caught up in the Carolina Rebellion this weekend. I was lucky to get to be in the media tent where the bands all came to give interviews and pics to the lucky saps like me who want to hear their thoughts on life.

Boston

I love Boston.  When I was a kid, my mom and I took my cousin to Boston University and left her there.  I got to go to a game at Fenway Park and got to eat an Italian sausage for the first time. Sensory overload.

Meaning

Lately I've been struggling or at least wrestling with the notion of doing things that matter.  When I was so sick I didn't feel like moving it was harder to care about much, but I still had the time to consider what I want to do more than anything else in the world.

Why Music Education Matters

The other night I got to go to a sold out rock concert in a small venue.  Chevelle packed out Amos' Southend--it was one of the best shows I've experienced.  Maybe it wasn't one of the best I've ever seen, but it was one of the best I've experienced.

A Random Rant on Guns and Arts

The shootings at Newtown, Connecticut, hurt most of us really deeply.  I would say all of us, but there are still folks who don't seem at all affected by it; in fact, there are some who have used the tragedy as an excuse to be characteristically stupid.
