Every Sunday morning, First United Methodist Church opens their fellowshiphall (directly underneath the sanctuary) for folks from the street to come in and share coffee and muffins, or whatever people bring in. The cool thing about it is that folks just hang out together, talk, play checkers, or just be. Nobody “witnesses” to anybody and nobody stands on the opposite side of a counter from anybody else.
No training necessary, just a willingness to hang out and have conversation with folks. No planning required….just show up between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. and ask somebody if you can help or just grab a cup of coffee and sit down and get to know some of the neighbors from the street.
